About the OACG - Arts and Crafts in Ohio
The Ohio Arts and Crafts Guild is a network of artists and crafters who work together to preserve and promote the arts in Ohio and nationwide. Since 1963, we have combined our efforts to accomplish noteworthy goals and make new friends along the way. In 2006, the Guild office was moved to Canton, Ohio, to take advantage of the explosion of arts interest in Stark County and to be closer to the most active board members.
For many years our emphasis was the tracking and reviewing of art and craft show in the state of Ohio. As shows were often the primary method for an artist or crafter to interact with his or her audience, this made OACG a valuable resource indeed.
Today we are moving forward into the virtual age on many fronts. If you check out the index on the left, you will note that OACG is active on FaceBook and Yahoo Groups. We also maintain an active blog with frequent posts and the availability of RSS feed subscription.
Our board members and volunteers are actively involved in learning the latest methods of marketing, e-marketing and communication. We are becoming skilled at utilizing search engine optimization, social networking and other methods of connecting in the 21st century.
The OACG Gallery has also become an integral part of the Canton First Friday events. Members with art in the Guild Gallery have a unique opportunity to showcase their work. The Guild Gallery is a popular spot for this monthly outing, which draws spectators from all around Stark County and areas beyond.
Contact us anytime if you would like further information about the Guild. We also welcome comments and suggestions. New members are welcomed with open arms and donations are much appreciated. And, you do not have to be a resident of Ohio to Join!
The Ohio Arts & Crafts Guild, started in 1963, is a non-profit [501(c)(3)] service and informational organization representing practicing artists and craftspeople at all levels of achievement: amateurs, professionals and students. Our membership represents people of all ages and walks of life who appreciate and support the arts and crafts. In addition, the Guild promotes the future of arts and crafts by awarding an annual scholarship to an Ohio high school or college art student.
